The John Schmitt Award is presented annually to an individual graduate student. It is presented in the name of John Schmitt, Ph.D. who, as an educational researcher, founded the New England Educational Research Organization.
Purpose and Eligibility
This award is presented for outstanding research at the graduate level. To be eligible the candidate must be an individual presenting at the Annual Conference who is currently enrolled in an advanced degree program, OR who is presenting a paper based upon a thesis or dissertation that was completed during his or her graduate study in the past year. Candidates must have initiated, developed, and completed a research paper in education or an allied field.
There is no formal application form. Applicants should submit the following:
a copy of the completed research paper (25-page maximum)
a letter of support from the advisor or a colleague familiar with the applicant’s research
